Itinerary
When you arrive at Paro International Airport in Paro, Bhutan, Trekking Mart will arrange for you to be taken to our hotel. After lunch we will visit Ta Dzong, which is also named the National Museum, and is a wonderful ancient watchtower that gives insight into the cultural legacy of the Kingdom of Bhutan. This will be followed by a brief stop at Rinpung Dzong - a stunning 17th-century Bhutanesque fortress and monastery. Overnight stay at Paro.
Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest) which is one of Bhutan's best-known monasteries located at 3,180 meters height. According to legend Guru Padmasambhava, one of the great figures of the Buddhist world who brought Buddhism to Bhutan, meditated here after having come flying down on a tigress. The monastery is hanging on the edge of a steep cliff about 900 meters above from scenic Paro Valley. After exploring the monastery, we will hike down to valley then transfer to the hotel in capital of Bhutan Thimphu. We will stay Overnight in Thimphu.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After morning breakfast, we will begin sightseeing tour of the cultural and highlights of Thimphu. We will visit the King’s Memorial Chorten, Nunnery Temple and historic Changangkha Monastery, the radio tower viewpoint of picturesque Thimphu Valley. Continue to the magnificent Tashichho Dzong and Motithang Takin Preserve, which is home to Bhutan’s national animal: the takin. It is a rare stocky goat-antelope with a thick neck, short legs and a body that looks like a cross between a cow and a goat! Overnight in Thimphu.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today, we will take approximately 76 km (3 hours) drive from Thimphu to Punakha. Along the way we will enjoy scenic mountain landscapes along a picturesque, winding Himalayan road. From Dochu La (3,100m), we will see spectacular Himalayan views on a clear day and continue downhill through forests of rhododendron, passing rice fields and following the Punakha River to reach Punakha. On reaching Punakha, we will check in hotel and having lunch there. After lunch, we will explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, which is beautifully located in between the Pho Chhu (Male River) and Mo Chhu (Female River) like an anchored ship. Overnight in Punakha.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After morning breakfast, we will drive from Punakha to Gangtey. During the journey we will pass through the dense forests of oak trees and rhododendrons. Gangtey is a beautiful place surrounded by snow-capped mountains. In Gangtey, we will visit historic Gangtey Monastery, explore the spectacular Phobjikha villages to experience the traditional lifestyle of Bhutan. After experience the mountain scenery and local culture we drive back to the Punakha. Overnight in Punakha.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today, we will leave the Punakha and move toward Paro through Dochula Pass, which is most scenic mountain routes. In Dochula Pass, we will explore the Druk Wangyal Monastery. Druk Wangyal Monastery is the renowned for its beautiful traditional Bhutanese architecture and spiritual traditions. After having lunch in Thimphu and move to Paro through the amazing valleys and mountain view. Overnight in Paro.
