Itinerary
Upon Arrival at Paro International Airport in Bhutan is where our Trekking Mart representative will pick up and transferred to your hotel. After refreshing in hotel, we will begin to explore the Ta-Dzong built in the 17th century watchtower that now houses the National Museum, featuring collections of Thangka paintings, textiles, religious artifacts, traditional weapons, and Bhutanese treasures. Drive to Rinpung Dzong, where today serves as an important administrative and monastic center. overnight in Paro.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
After morning breakfast, we will depart for Drukgyel. The ancient place of Drungyel is the 1647 fortress built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal (Shabdrung) to commemorate his victory over the overwhelming Tibetans invading forces. We will see the breathtaking view of Mt. Jhomolhai (7,326m) rises directly behind the ruins. Continue our tour to Kyichu Lhakhang which is one of the oldest temples in Bhutan, believed to be among the 108 built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century to subdue a demoness across the Himalayas. After exploring we will take approximately 2½-hour drive to Thimphu. Upon arrival Thimphu we will visit the impressive Tashichho Dzong, a significant center of Bhutan’s administrative and religious affairs and the traditional summer residence of the Central Monastic Body. Overnight in Thimphu.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Today, we will explore the National Memorial Chorten, Dupthop Lhakhang, National Library, and the National Institute of Zorig Chusum. This place preserves the Bhutan’s traditional arts and crafts. We will visit another destination in Thimphu: The Institute of Traditional Medicine Services to learn about Bhutan’s traditional healing practices and herbal medicine. We will drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3,100 m). In Dochu La (3,100m), we will see the most spectacular Himalayan views on a clear day and explore the Druk Wangyal Monastery. Druk Wangyal Monastery is renowned for its beautiful traditional Bhutanese architecture and spiritual traditions. After reaching Punakha we will explore the magnificent Punakha Dzong, which is beautifully located in between the Pho Chhu (Male River) and Mo Chhu (Female River) like an anchored ship. Overnight in Punakha.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
After early breakfast, we will drive from Punakha to Thimphu. When we arrive we will visit Changangkha Lhakhang which is a historical religious structure built in the 15th century and one of oldest temples and fortresses in Thimphu, Bhutan. We will also get an opportunity to do some shopping as you stroll down the streets and markets of Thimphu. Our experience today is followed by a pleasant journey back to Paro enjoying the beautiful view of the mountain valley and countryside. Overnight in Paro.
