Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m) is one of the top trekking destinations in Nepal's Himalaya. This trek is set in the most sublimely elegant location surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Annapurna Mountain Range from all directions. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek proceeds along the north of Pokhara in west-central Nepal. The focal point is Mt. Annapurna I (8,091m) which is the 10th highest mountain in the world. It is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal, appropriate for both the experienced and first-time trekker. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a 15-day trekking package taking you into quaint Gurung and Magar villages, past spectacular waterfalls and through traditional Nepalese farmland. The trek begins at just 800 meters above sea level and ascends to an altitude of over 4,000 meters. Wake up every day to vibrant sunrises over the snow-capped peaks; an almost daily attraction. Itinerary

Day 1

Your representative from Trekking Mart will meet you after the arrival lounge with a signboard for Trekking Mart-Travel and Adventure. You will then be transferred to your selected hotel, where you can spend the day at rest or at your leisure after your long flight. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can enjoy delicious, authentic Nepali food, followed by a cultural dance show.

Day 2

After breakfast, we start our guided tour of the most historical and spiritual attractions of Nepal’s capital city such as Kathmandu Durbar Square and Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple). There should be time left in the afternoon to shop for any last-minute items for the trek or simply relax. Your Group Leader will be happy to assist you in any way. They will meet you on both mornings in Kathmandu to help with any queries. Lunch and dinner are on your own today; the Thamel region features many different cuisines at some very fine restaurants.

Day 3

Following breakfast, the journey takes us from Kathmandu to Pokhara by either luxury tourist bus or private vehicle. This delightful drive offers landscape of countryside, rivers and native villages. Reach Pokhara between 2-3 pm. On clear days, Pokhara offers magnificent views of the peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare and many others unnamed mountains. The lakeside city of Pokhara is a beautiful town and has numerous beautiful lakes, waterfalls, caves, river gorge, temples and much more. Pokhara is the playground of the Himalayas and once there, you will understand why. You can walk around lakeside and a nice restaurant on tranquil Lakeside for dinner.
Optional: 25-minute flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara is available throughout the day, saving time and offering spectacular mountain views.

Day 4

After 1 hrs drive from Pokhara, we begin our trek at the village of Naya Pul. It’s a short 20 minutes walk along the Modi Khola River to reach this beautiful village that has restaurants and guest houses. Trek will continue heading to Ulleri following the banks of Burungdi stream. We climb slightly up to the valley of Hile (1495 meters) and Tikhedhunga (1525 meters). The trail leads steeply up to a large beautiful ethnic Magar village of Ulleri. The Magars are an ethnic group that are a strong, welcoming people. We will stay overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 5

After breakfast, we make our ascent to the Ghorepani. This village’s name means “horse water” and was a major watering spot for the horses on the main trail to Tibet. This is a popular destination of the Annapurna region for its unique culture and landscape. Overnight in a local owned guesthouse.

Day 6

Today you are in for an amazing site. Rise before sunrise and make your way to the top of Poon Hill (3193m.) to see the most magnificently beautiful sunrise and colorful mountains in the surroundings; Mt. Annapurna South 7219m., Mt. Dhaulagiri 8167m., Tent Peak, Thapa Peak, Hiun Chuli 6441m., Annapurna III 7855m., Annapurna II 7937m., Annapurna IV 7525 m., Mt. Lamjung 6931m., and many other peaks in Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Many people see Poon Hill as the highlight of the Himalayas. We trek back to Ghorepani for breakfast and commence our trek to Tadapani where you can enjoy the panoramic Mountain View. The trail abounds with flora & faunas. Overnight in a local owned guesthouse.

Day 7

We make a steep descent through the dense forest walk passing through the west bank of the Modi Khola and Chuile village to the Chhomrong. Towering above the village is the mighty peak of Annapurna South, with the Fishtail Mountain facing it across the valley. We stay overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 8

We walk through forest festooned with orchids blooming and butterflies darting about on the banks of Modi River to Khuldi. It’s a descent down a long, steep, slippery stone staircase into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests. After the small settlement of Bamboo, the trail climbs gradually to reach Doban. We stay overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 9

The day starts with gentle gradual ascend following the trail above the river through thick bamboo, oak and rhododendron forests up the side of the canyon. We cross two streams over small bridges. The trail passes through some solitary places and the wilderness gives peace to our mind. There is also the possibility of seeing a variety of species of wildlife. We stay overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 10

melting, forming small streams that join with others that tumble down the mountainside. The path widens as we enter the Annapurna Sanctuary, following a stream. We find ourselves climbing to a few huts alongside a moraine. There are sensational views of the near-vertical south face of Annapurna towering above the sanctuary. Annapurna Base Camp sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding panorama of the 360 degrees. Mt. Machhapuchhare, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiuchuli and other peaks surround us in their snowcapped glory. Climax of our trip almost ends today. We stay overnight in Annapurna Base Camp in a Guest house.

Day 11

Another day, another stupendous sunrise! We wake up early morning to enjoy another sensational sunrise over the Himalayas. This time the sunrise comes to us at our guest hosue rather than having to climb to a vantage point. After breakfast, we trek downhill to the quaint village of Bamboo. Heading down to the valley is much easier than climbing up. We overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 12

Trekking continues descending to the Jhinu Danda. Here you get an opportunity to have he sensational experience of immersing yourself in a natural hot spring. The hot spring lies just a 15-min walk from Jhinu Danda. We stay overnight in a locally owned guesthouse.

Day 13

Last breakfast at mountain lodge for this time. After breakfast take a bus or jeep back to beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara. Overnight stay in Pokhara. You may clean your stuff here and enjoy a walk along the shoreline. There is a choice of café and bar where you can stop for drinks and fine dining or a great pizza.

Day 14

Travel back to Kathmandu by luxury tourist bus, private vehicle, or optional 25-minute flight. Free time for shopping and sightseeing once you get back to Kathmandu.

All travelers (except Indian nationals) must have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Nepal.
Tourist visas are available:

  • On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport

  • At major land border immigration offices

  • At Nepali embassies and consulates abroad

Travel insurance is strongly recommended, especially for trekking and climbing activities. Your insurance should cover emergency medical treatment and evacuation. Although it is possible to travel without insurance, Trekking Mart requires a written declaration stating that you accept full responsibility if you choose not to have coverage.

The climate of Nepal is largely influenced by the monsoon season, resulting in distinct travel periods throughout the year:

  • Dry Season: October to May

  • Monsoon Season: June to September

The best times to visit are October–November and March–May, when Himalayan views are at their clearest and the landscapes are especially vibrant.

From February to May, warmer temperatures make high-altitude trekking more comfortable and enjoyable.

Trekking in Nepal requires a good level of physical fitness, as it involves long walking hours on uneven, and often steep, terrain.

To prepare for your trek, the following are recommended:

  • Regular physical exercise (walking, hiking, cardio training)

  • Participation in sports or endurance activities

  • Yoga or flexibility training

It is also advisable to consult your physician for a full medical check-up prior to travel to ensure you are fit for trekking.

No vaccinations are mandatory for entry into Nepal. However, travelers may consider the following vaccinations based on personal health needs, travel plans, and medical advice:

  • Cholera

  • Meningitis

  • Tetanus

  • Diphtheria

  • Typhoid

  • Gamma Globulin (for short-term protection against certain infections, such as hepatitis A)

It is recommended to consult a healthcare professional or travel clinic before your trip to determine which vaccinations are appropriate for you.

All Trekking Mart trek leaders are trained in first aid and carry essential medical equipment. However, clients are strongly advised to bring a personal first-aid kit to handle minor health issues during the trek.

  • Pain relief medication (e.g., Aspirin or Panadol)

  • Antihistamines for allergies

  • Medication for stomach upsets (e.g., Imodium)

  • Oral rehydration salts

  • Antiseptic cream and antibiotic powder

  • Water purification tablets

  • Throat lozenges

  • Eye drops

  • Antacid tablets

  • Calamine lotion (for skin irritation or insect bites)

  • Bandages and plasters

  • Small scissors and tweezers

ATMs are widely available in Kathmandu and other major towns. Credit cards are accepted in most hotels, restaurants, and shops in tourist areas, though smaller establishments may prefer cash.

Currency exchange services are available at Tribhuvan International Airport and throughout Kathmandu, including banks and licensed exchange counters.

When trekking in remote areas, ATMs and card facilities are often unavailable. Therefore, it is recommended to carry sufficient cash (in Nepalese Rupees) to cover:

  • Personal expenses

  • Extra meals and beverages

  • Tips and gratuities

  • Additional accommodation if required

Additional Tips

  • Withdraw or exchange money before starting your trek.

  • Carry small denominations for convenience in remote areas.

  • Inform your bank before traveling to avoid issues with card usage abroad.
