Tamang Heritage Trail trek is the newly developed
tourism product. This trek highlights an ancient
lifestyle of the inhabitants combining with picturesque
scenery and healing baths in natural hot springs.
The people of this region are mostly Tibetans who
migrated from Kerung in Tibet across the border and
settled in Nepal. The culture and traditions of these
people are similar to the Tibetan across the border.
This trek provides you with Tamang norms, Tamang
festivals, traditional architecture, costumes, local
Syabru dances making the exposure of this culture
extremely unique. Visitors will get an opportunity to
observe Syabru, Mane and other local dances at Goljung
and Gatlang VDCs. The villages also sell exclusive
handicraft items like traditional caps, mufflers and
other items.
Visitors can enjoy a hot bath in the healing hot-water
spring at Tatopani. Ancient monasteries and houses
adorned with rich wood engravings at Thuman are an
unforgettable experience with the famous Tamang
hospitality by lodging with them.

Day 01 :
|
Arrival
Kathmandu airport and transfer to
Hotel |

Day 02 :
|
Early morning drive from Kathmandu
to Syabrubesi (1982m) by bus. The
road Continually moves through
beautiful villages at the foot of
the mountains where your Journey
begins from. Overnight stay in
Syabrubesi at a local lodge. |

Day 03 : |
Trek from Syabrubesi to Gatlang.
After an hour and half of ascent
from Syabrubesi we reach the view
point from where we can see the
fantastic views of Ganesh Himal,
Gosaikunda range and the Goljang
valley. An hour downhill walk makes
you enter in the Goljang Valley for
a lunch break. Gatlang the beautiful
Tamang village is another three hrs
walk from Goljang. Upon arrival the
guests will be welcomed by Khada
(white scarf) and the home made
local drink Roxy (Liquor)
accompanied by the Welcome song in
local language. Get refreshed and
enjoy the local Syabru dance.

Day 04 : |
Trek from Gatlang to Tatopani. This
would be the longest day of the
entire trip taking about seven hours
trek. The walk begins by descending
to Thangbuchet (near Chilime
village) by the Bhotekoshi River
where we stop for the lunch. Chilime
Hydropower situated on a Dam is one
of a major attraction. After lunch
the trail will be ascending upward
across the hanging bridge. Ascent
continues until you reach Tatopani
which literally means 'hot water'
and is flowing in the laps of the
mountains. Locals believe that the
waters have a healing quality that
eases away your aches and pains.

Day 05 : |
Trek from Tatopani to Thuman- The
trail ascends to Nagthali Danda
(3300m) in the high open grassland
with amazing views of snow covered
Himalayan Mountains where you can
have a view by spending sometime at
the top and enjoy a special tea
prepared by the care taker of the
Gompa. Trek continues down to Thuman
a traditional Tamang village
influenced by Tibetan culture with
friendly people who love to sing and
dance. Overnight stay at the
community lodge. |

Day 06 : |
Trek from Thuman to Briddim- The
trail descends to Timure an old
trade route to Tibet Rasuwaghadi at
a three hours walk beside the bank
of River. After lunch the trail
continues towards another Tibetan
influenced Tamang village called
Briddim. A home stay at Briddim
would be a unique experience. All
accommodations, lodging and food are
offer at the individual houses on
rotational basis. Each host family
provides clean bed, toilet and a
family dining room. The visitor
enjoys the evening with the host
family, living with them, eating
traditional foods and sleeping at
their usual clean bed. In food plain
rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa
Stew), Potato, Tibetan tea, local
wine are served. The visitor can
also observe the local indoor
rituals and cultural practices with
the host family and walk in the
village to see the traditional
lifestyle and customs of the people.
Later in the evening locals get to
gather in their traditional
costumes, performing cultural songs
and dances, welcoming the visitors.
The host family guides the visitor,
explain the special features of the
village, showing the live
craftsmanship providing first hand
opportunity to purchase for you. |

Day 07 : |
Trek to Sabrubesi- After breakfast, the trek
descends down to Syabrubesi which is just
3hrs walk from Briddim. Lunch and rest of
the day is free. Dinner and overnight at
Syabrubesi. Stay at local lodge. |

Day 08 : |
Drive to Kathmandu- Early morning breakfast
and drive back to Kathmandu drop your
selected hotel. |
